How much does Umrah cost from Chicago?
A 7-night Umrah package from Chicago costs between $1,210 and $1,865 offer by Qiblatain USA, based on the your hotel. Four things change the price.
Your travel dates matter most. Ramadan, winter break, and spring break are the most expensive times to go. The hotel level comes next, because rooms closer to the Haram cost more.
A longer stay adds to the price too. Going from 7 nights to 10 adds about $85 to $135. Room sharing also counts. Four people in one room pay less per person than two.
For comparison, our Houston Umrah Packages start at $1,310 for the same 5-night, 3-star trip.
Which month is the cheapest for Umrah?
Prices are usually lowest when schools are in session and it is not Ramadan. For Chicago families, that often means September through mid-December, and mid-January until Ramadan begins. Ask our team for the lowest price on your dates.
Flights from Chicago O'Hare to Jeddah and Madinah
There is no nonstop flight from Chicago to Jeddah or Madinah right now. Your flight will have one stop, usually in Istanbul, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, or Amman. Total travel time is usually 16 to 20 hours, based on the length of your stop.
Most international airlines at O'Hare leave from Terminal 5. Plan to get there at least three hours before your flight.
O'Hare or Midway?
Book from O'Hare. Midway (MDW) has very few international flights, so leaving from there adds an extra flight and more time. If you live in Milwaukee, Rockford, or Northwest Indiana, O'Hare is usually your best airport for a one-stop trip to Saudi Arabia too.
Jeddah or Madinah first?
You can land in either city. If you land in Jeddah, you go to Makkah first and do Umrah right away. Your plane crosses the Miqat before it lands, so you need to be in Ihram on the flight. Most pilgrims change at the stopover airport. This is a lot easier than wearing Ihram to O'Hare in January.
If you land in Madinah, you visit the Prophet's Mosque first. Then you enter Ihram at Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali) on the way to Makkah.

3-Star, 4-Star, or 5-Star: Which One Should You Pick?
3-star packages are the lowest price. They work well for students, solo pilgrims, and anyone who does not mind a short shuttle ride or a longer walk to the Haram.
4-star packages put you closer to the Haram, with bigger rooms. Most families with kids choose this level.
5-star packages use hotels like Address Jabal Omar and Pullman Zamzam Madinah, which are next to the two mosques. Pick this level if you are traveling with older parents or anyone who cannot walk far.
Best Time to Go for Umrah from Chicago
You can do Umrah any time of year except the Hajj days. These are the most common times Chicago pilgrims travel:
- Winter break (late December). Kids are out of school and Makkah is cooler, with days in the 80s. This is one of the busiest and most expensive weeks.
- Ramadan. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around February 8. Hotels fill up months ahead, and the last ten nights sell out first.
- Spring break (late March). A good week for families who want to avoid Ramadan prices.
- Summer. Prices can be lower, but Makkah often goes above 110°F. It is hard on kids and older pilgrims.
Book two to three months ahead for regular dates. For Ramadan and winter break, book four to five months ahead.
Some families add a short vacation after Umrah while the kids are out of school. See our Halal Holidays for options.
Visa and Travel Documents for Chicago Pilgrims
- Passport. It must be valid for at least six months after your travel date.
- Umrah visa. We apply for you once you send a passport copy and a photo.
- Vaccines. Saudi Arabia requires a meningitis (MenACWY) vaccine for Umrah pilgrims. Most pharmacies and county health departments in the Chicago area offer it. Get it at least 10 days before you fly.
- Nusuk app. You need it to book your visit to the Rawdah in Madinah. We will show you how to set it up.
